Dad Don't Look at Mom

This song was written to give voice to those most affected by divorce -- our children.

Lyrics

Couples fall out of love, so I am told:
The flame fades away and then grows cold.
Parents should make love A-priority,
Denying those who would come in between.

But Dad don't look at Mom like he used to
With arms that held her tight. Now, he stays away at night.
And Dad don't look at Mom like he used to.
Now, he seldom calls or writes and I miss him tonight.

As time went on, it was plain to see
Love break apart; fall down on me.
So, they go their way, their vow to burn,
Passing me around when it's their turn.

And Mom don't look at Dad like she used to.
That sparkle in her eye grew dimmer with time.
And Mom don't look at Dad like she used to.
She stopped wearing his ring -- no more love song to sing.

If there was one wish to have, it would be the right
To know the love of the man who gave me life.
Don't explain to me who is right or wrong.
I only know I want my father home.

But Dad don't look at Mom like he used to
With arms that held her tight. Now, he stays away at night.
And Mom don't look at Dad like she used to.
She stopped wearing his ring.

Mommy, where's Daddy?
He's been gone for so long.
Dad, if you can hear me please come home!

Vocalist, Melody, with Dadty.
