But I'd Only Walk Away

© Maja Palra Music Publishing, 2011

This song was written when I was playing drums in the band, Voyage. I had a girlfriend at the time. So, I left the groupies alone. However, the other guys seemed to enjoy the ladies and I got quite an education. I wrote this for the women "looking for love in all the wrong places".

Lyrics

You may think that you're Miss Popular but I see through your disguise.
You ain't nothin' to him, Babe, but a story for the guys.
Now, you know what he's after and you're hoping that he'll stay
But he turns and walks away.

And he says to you:
"Goodbye, Honey, it's been a good time and I'd like to see you soon."
But you know that he's lying as he walks across the room
And you go running after because you're hoping that he'll stay
But he turns and walks away.

Now, I live my life a different way. So, don't try to convince me
To go home with you tonight.
You don't know the price I'd pay. So, no thank you and goodbye.
'Cause I know what you're after. Yea, you're hoping that I'll stay
But I'd only walk away.
