International Olympic Committee
March, 2026
- The IOC has come out with new guidelines that exclude males from playing
in women's events. I find it interesting how news networks spin their reporting.
The AP, CNN and NBC all use the word "banned" in their headlines.
- AP has the least deceptive wording.
- CNN has a more deceptive wording.
- NBC has the most deceptive wording.
- The larger truth is, no one is being "banned." The IOC policy simply requires
that only female athletes may compete in female events. Imagine that.
- So-called "transgender women" may compete in the olympics in categories
that align with their biological sex. I point out, these althetes are free
to present themselves however they so choose, but if an athlete has XY chromosomes,
he must compete in the men's category.
- FOX, on the other hand, has an accurate description of IOC's new policy.
- I have a few questions:
- Why did it take so long for the IOC to implement this fair and sane policy?
- What happens to the medals men have already won in the womens' events?
- What happens to some of the records set by men that will never be beaten by women?
- I foresee a new #MeToo movement demanding records set by men be made null and void.
Fortunately, this effort has already started. Check out this
USA Today article
reporting that records set by Will (Lia) Thomas at The University of Pennsylvania
are being stripped. He should never have been allowed to compete in the women's
category to start with -- but here they are having to backpedal.
