This page was written in September, 2018, during the time Brett Kavanaugh was nominated to the Supreme Court. After his hearing and just before the confirmation vote, an accusation came forth claiming he had sexually assaulted a Ms. Ford 35 years prior when he was 17 and she was 15.
I was reminded of an accusation of assault leveled at me when I was a teen.
A family moved into the neighborhood. One of the boys, a few years younger than me, recognized me as someone who had suffed stones in his ears several years prior.
I had never seen this kid before and told him so ... and to this day have never stuffed stones in anyone's ears. The thought of doing something like that would never have crossed my mind -- but there the accusation was -- and he was certain I was the guy.
Did Kavanaugh do what Ford is alleging? I don't know ... but ... I am 100% certain that if I can be falsely accused of assault, anyone can, even if the accuser believes s/he is telling the truth.
