Border Crisis -- In Massachusetts

• An article in The Boston Herald reports that Democrat "Gov. Maura Healey declared a state of emergency as local emergency shelters fill up with an ever-increasing number of migrants arriving from other countries." Surprise!
  
  
• Now that the problem Democrats created at the border is affecting them, something needs to be done. Where were their voices when TX and AZ were being overrun by illegal border-crossers and begging for help? I'll tell you. Democrats were calling their officials bigots, racists and xenophobes for sounding the alarm, but now that the shoe is on the other foot, sounding the alarm is ok. I point out, what Healey is experiencing in MA is chump change compared to border states. I'm sure their governors are thinking: welcome to the party, Maura, but you ain't seen nothin' yet.
  
  
• Gov. Healey's comments included: “These families include newborns, very young children, and expecting mothers. It’s ... exponentially more families than our state has ever served... These numbers are being driven by a surge of new arrivals in our country." Wait. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have declared our border is secure. Democrats and liberal news outlets have reported that the "border crisis" is a fabrication/exaggeration by Republicans and FOX News. So, which is it?
  
  
• I knew it was only a matter of time before Democrats would start eying people's spare bedrooms as a means of solving their immigrant crisis. Sure enough, Healey's Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll said "if you have an extra room or suite in your home, please consider hosting a family." What I didn't know is that "Massachusetts is a right to shelter state, and must provide emergency housing to families in need." This sounds like a case of passing legislation that requires biting off more than they can chew. Whoopsie. Thinking this through, here are a few thoughts/questions that come to my mind:
  
  
  • Is the Lt. Gov. suggesting hosting a family of four, five, six in a spare bedroom? I mean, who has a "spare suite?"
    
    
  • Have the good Gov. and her Lt. invited any migrants into their homes? If not, why not? Shouldn't they lead by example or is this another case of: ok for you, not ok for me?
    
    
  • Since these "migrants" crossed our border illegally, this means they have not been vetted. They could have criminal records including crimes of violence. They could be pedophiles, drug dealers, carrying diseases, involved in sex trafficking including the children that are with them. There could be wolves hiding among the sheep who wish to commit acts of terrorism against the U.S. The list could go on. They don't have passports. How do we know who's who? We don't have any idea. Yes, no doubt most of these migrants are relatively harmless, but would you be willing to roll the dice? Nations have immigration polices for good reasons, not the least of which is protection for their citizens and international guests.
    
    
  • You don't think the hosts' obligations end when these migrants move in, do you? I suspect this also means they'll be feeding them, buying toiletries and clothes, paying for any needed medical attention, etc. Will hosts be given financial assistance or are they expected to dig deep into their wallets?
    
    
  • Also, how long will these "guests" be staying? What happens if they don't speak English and hosts don't speak their language? What if hosts have had enough of the way guests keep the bathroom, abuse drugs/alcohol, etc., and want them out? What will it take to evict? Will hosts have to hire lawyers and take the matters to court? Will hosts be demonized in their communities, by politicians and the media? Once the guests do leave, where will they go next?
    
    
  • Certainly, the devil will be in the details.
  
  
• Y'all come sounds so inviting, so compassionate, but our open border policy has gotten so out of hand that even Democrats are "crying Uncle!". What MA and other venues are experiencing is what happens when liberal do-good-ism and reality collide.
